I spy on a small group of US soldiers in the break room telling ghost stories, facinating stuff.

Few US soldiers petition for the right to do a Peyote trip right now. Me being the commanding officer here i would technically be within my rights. Russians generally not interested or doing privately.
I consult with the doctors.

Consulting legal command chain.

This would be first time doing something illegal within command chain that is not "oh my car broketh down in front of this absolutely critical supply truck and it seems trucks also on both sides."

US pilots who'll do the "actual" experience for them say they'll do a 2 man team a 180 look.
I concur this seems like a good limit. the soldiers say there are 4 people total who seem interested but have no complaints on the limits.
After talk with chain it seems it is accepted. I assign a observer to keep tabs from a distance and let them do it. They withdraw to a particularly nice grove.
1½ weeks remaining, US and Russia competing neck n neck for the largest production, keep in mind competition is about maintaining friendly relations with locals AND largest production, not one or the other.

US group purchcases food from local farmers. Roasts pork and such, everyone eats well. Russian group still doing standard "low does what low does but EVERYONE gets fed" posture.

will note. Poor people in town seem more likely to approach russians for food and interaction than americans. Business, farmers and similars seem more inclined to approach the US. Some farmers hold higher prices for the russians but same prices widely availble.

So 3 weeks in. Peyote guys were a little high for a few days but returned to normal within a few. No more to report on that. Sharing stories with other soldiers.
Both sides itching for a final push to keep pace. Thinking of appropriate step. US optimization process leading to them being in slight lead in production. Russia still more liked by townspeople in general but US pretty close. Russia getting more complaints from harrasing the US side due to US proximity to town. RUssian side MUCH congratulated by town for "sticking to the fucking sidelines."

US pilots remarking that "While F18 and F22 pilots and such might not get how vital this exercise is. Fighter INTERCEPTOR pilots fully understand this. This is exactly what everyone on our side needs, strongly."

OKay, final set. One week to go.
"We have taken all your supplies for the laboratory and hidden them across the large site. You are forbidden to buy more. You can recieve them as gifts, you can trade with other teams for supplies. Forage back what you need and complete the final leg of the exercise. Stunners, antimatter, grabs, holds, locks and 5050 allowed between teams. Use of weapons, serious harm, actual injuries and similars will result in point loss for side that did it, if able to distance from combat and unwilling to do so. Point deduction."

Furious movement by both sides to gather what they need.
Some US soldiers overjoyed that they were splurging on antimatter and made everything glow as it makes tracking with drones DAMN easy to find lost parts. Tho not all as you generally dont shoot a BBgun in a laboratory. But large sacks of supplies were outside and they got sprayed by the antimatter. Tho buried they still "glow" to a good observer.
Some soldiers come across the other side while digging. They discuss on how "combat" should be applied under these rules. They decide that a one on one in a row by the soldiers using UFC style room is what they'll do.
Some of the smaller soldiers DAMN sweaty at having to take on "a tank" in fistfight.
